  1. Using the MOVECIM File Relocater (MOVECIM.EXE)

  4. Beginning with Version 2.1, DOS CIM will use a new directory structure.
  5. The new structure will allow CompuServe communications software programs
  6. for such as the CompuServe Information Manager for Windows (WinCIM) and
  7. DOS CIM 2.1 to share common data such as scripts, the modem database,
  8. other support files, and the Filing Cabinet.  The new directory tree
  9. structure looks like this:

  27. NOTE:  If you originally selected to REORGANIZE FILES during
  28.        installation, you DO NOT need to run MOVECIM.  It is only
  29.        necessary to run MOVECIM if you did not already run MOVECIM
  30.        to update the current directory organization.  If you are
  31.        unsure, check the common CIM directory to see if its
  32.        directory structure matches the one diagrammed above.  If
  33.        it does match and you have access to your old Filing Cabinet
  34.        and other data files, there is no need to run MOVECIM.

  37. Syntax:  MOVECIM  Old_Support_Dir  New_Common_Dir  Old_CIM_Dir
  38.  
  39. Where:   Old_Support_Dir = Full Pathname to old Support files Directory
  40.          Destination_Common_Dir = Full Pathname to new Common Directory
  41.          Old_CIM_Dir = Full Pathname to old CIM.EXE location.  This
  42.                  parameter is necessary only if your CIM executable
  43.                  program is located in a different subdirectory than
  44.                  your CIM support files.

  47. PLEASE NOTE:
  48.        * MOVECIM will not work across drives.  For example, you
  49.              cannot move files from a directory on the C drive to a
  50.              directory on the D drive.
  51.  
  52.        * Versions of DOSCIM prior to 2.1 will NOT work properly
  53.          once you run the MOVECIM utility to move your old DOSCIM
  54.          Filing Cabinet and Support Files to the new directory
  55.          structure used by WinCIM and/or DOSCIM 2.1.  To use
  56.          DOSCIM with the new directory structure, you MUST upgrade
  57.          to DOSCIM Version 2.1 or higher (GO CIMSOFT).

  60. For members who have always accepted the default directory
  61. recommendations made by CIM during installation, the recommended
  62. usage is
  63.  
  64.    MOVECIM \CSERVE \CSERVE
  65.  
  66. CSERVE will then become the common directory for all CompuServe
  67. software programs (except for versions of DOS CIM prior to 2.1).
  68.  
  69. To access DOS CIM under the new directory structure, type the
  70. following commands in DOS:

  72.        CD \CSERVE\DOSCIM  <hit Enter>
  73.        CIM  <Enter>

  75. Note:  If you installed CIM 2.1 to a directory other than CSERVE,
  76. adjust the CD (Change Directory) command accordingly by replacing
  77. CSERVE with your common directory name.
